There have been others.
distractions from the truth of you.
and here in fits of penmanship I think I am realizing...
Truth.

Do you remember me?
Pressed cold in between pages bound so thin.
Do you remember me?
Sweet little memoirs we told from a thousand miles away.

And silently I will sing these hymns to you.
In the quite spaces we now share.
and eyes so bright will glance at mine and we will see again for the first.

So grasp those pages which you now hold,
stained and tattered and torn.
and hold tight to fearful new words.
and know that smiles are only meant to pacify those we now know.

And truth might fade and there remain for a life time,
hidden in those frozen pages,
written from a thousand miles away.
